Drum Sticks
Drum sticks are the most commonly used instrument for
striking drums. They are long and narrow and usually have a tapered
end down to the tip. Drum sticks are almost always made of wood, though
they can be found in other materials.
Drum sticks are an important accessory to a drummer. Drummers usually
have multiple sets with them at all times because hard and fast playing
can result in broken sticks. Sometimes the broken end of the drum stick
goes flying and if the drummer doesn't have a replacement, the drumming
can't go on.
While drum sticks are the most popular drumming accessory, they aren't
the only item drummers use for drumming. Some drummers use mallets or
their hands and fingers to strike the drums. Fans made of metal or plastic
are also used sometimes to attain a really soft, unique sound on a drum.
